Don’t be too eager for the next dish, and don’t be grumpy about the dish that passes you by. Eat what’s put in front of you at the banquet of life.
It’s hard work to continually guard against false impressions and incorrect perceptions. But the payoff is otherworldly.
Happiness, by definition, has to occur right now. It can’t be unlocked at some future time, when all the conditions are just right. It’s now or never.
The big picture is important, but it’s the little things that get you there. Each moment as it comes — they are the sum total of you.
Most of what we worry about never comes to pass. It’s not much more than a bad dream, and not worth overreacting to. Wake up!
Conquering your temptations simply involves comparing how you’d feel giving in vs. how you’d feel abstaining. Standing strong feels a lot better!
Your peace of mind is worth more than anything else, because it gives you freedom from pain and fear. Don’t sacrifice that freedom and peace for anything, no matter how shiny.
Is your soul a philosopher king, guiding on the paths which are good and true? Or is it a tyrant, leading from base desire and obsession?
